Authorities say residents leaving their home for any amount of time should make it appear occupied by leaving a light on and a television or radio playing.

West Side
Three of the most recent burglaries occurred on Bryant, Knox and Logan Avenues. These crimes occurred during the day while residents were away from home and involved breaking glass on a side or back door to gain entry. The primary items stolen were jewelry. Electronics were passed over in these incidents. No suspect description is available.

There were also two burglaries in two separate apartment buildings on Penn Ave. Nothing was taken in one incident and cash was taken in the second.
East Side
Another burglary where jewelry was stolen occurred on Stevens Avenue. Forced entry was made through the door. Three burglaries of garages occurred on Bloomington and 18th Avenues. In two incidences, the residents believed the garages were unlocked. In the third incident, a garage door opener was removed from an unlocked vehicle and used to gain access to the garage. Bicycles were taken in all three incidents; a small amount of cash and miscellaneous items left in vehicles were also taken.
