Additional features like a community garden and disc golf area are planned, and the city expects to fully reopen the park to residents before next summer.

Rochester Daycare Work Accused of Slapping Two-Year-Old Boy (krocnews.com) β A Rochester daycare employee is facing criminal charges after allegedly striking a two-year-old boy in the mouth at O2B Kids on Villa Road NW, an incident captured on video and reported to police. The child's mother took him to the hospital, where no injuries were found, and the worker is scheduled for a first court appearance in November.

Weekend Highway 52 southbound detour planned for 85th Street bridge repairs north of Rochester (postbulletin.com) β Drivers using southbound Highway 52 near Rochester should prepare for a full closure and detour from the evening of Aug. 28 through the early morning of Aug. 31 while crews repair the 85th Street bridge. Traffic will be routed onto nearby Olmsted County roads, and additional lane closures at the bridge will continue into October.

Waseca Man Accused of Torturing Dog Before it Froze to Death in Rochester (wjon.com) β A Waseca man is facing felony animal torture and misdemeanor shelter-deprivation charges in connection with a dog's death during subzero conditions in Rochester this past January. Court documents describe the animal being left outside, later found frozen with signs of trauma, and say the defendant is scheduled for a first court appearance in November.
