Semi, SUV Crash on Rochester's North Side Turns Fatal (krocnews.com) — A collision between a semi-truck and a small SUV on 75th Street Northwest on Rochester's north edge has been classified as a fatal crash by the State Patrol. Five people, including two young children and a Rochester driver, were involved, prompting a response from local law enforcement, Rochester Fire, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, and a Mayo One helicopter.
2. Residents question whether sidewalk work played role in tree that crushed car during Rochester storm (kimt.com) — A recent powerful storm in Rochester toppled a maple tree onto a parked Honda Pilot on 10 1/2 Avenue Northwest, totaling the vehicle and raising questions about nearby sidewalk work. Neighbors wonder if recent panel replacement weakened the tree's roots, while the city says the extreme wind, not construction, most likely caused the failure and notes similar tree losses citywide.
3. Rochester Man Sentenced to 34 Months in Child Sex Case (wjon.com) — A 24-year-old Rochester man has been sentenced in Olmsted County to 34 months in prison for soliciting a juvenile for sex and possessing child pornography, with credit for nearly two years already served. Investigators linked the Rochester victim's case to an earlier Brown County conviction after finding explicit images and evidence of a recorded encounter on his seized phone.
4. United Airlines Drops 10 Regional Routes From Chicago O'Hare as Capacity Pressures Mount (aeroxplorer.com) — United Airlines is dropping its Chicago O'Hare route to Rochester's RST airport, meaning local travelers will lose a direct link to one of the nation's busiest hubs. Residents and Mayo Clinic business travelers may face longer trips and fewer same-day options, needing to connect through other hubs or carriers as regional airlines cut back smaller-city service.
