📰 News we're reading

• Rochester Man Arrested After Police Find Cocaine At Home (kroc.com) — Rochester police arrested a 24-year-old man after a traffic stop and search of his northwest Rochester home allegedly turned up more than 85 grams of cocaine, Xanax pills, and drug-packaging materials. Officers say they first found cocaine during a stop, then cleared his girlfriend and three children from the house before executing the warrant; he's now facing multiple felony drug charges and remains under conditional bail.

• Do electric bikes and scooters need to follow the same rules on roads and trails? (postbulletin.com) — If you ride or drive around Rochester, new guidance clarifies where e-bikes, scooters, mopeds, and similar electric rides are allowed on city trails, sidewalks, and streets. The city explains age limits, speed caps, licensing rules, and why some faster or modified bikes are treated like motorcycles, stressing that riders must respect sidewalks and trails while drivers keep bike lanes clear.

• Rochester chamber backs massive Pine Island data center (klfdradio.com) — A major regional data center proposed for Pine Island, just north of Rochester, now has the full backing of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce, despite strong local opposition. Chamber leaders argue Google's Project Skyway would bring hundreds of construction jobs, more than 100 permanent positions, and major school and tax investments, while critics remain concerned about secrecy and environmental impacts.
