βWeβve got a very limited time we could hold them,β he said.
Stehlik said police are investigating the MOA incidentβwhich included several fist fights and chair throwingβin order to βprepare ourselves and prevent something like this from happening again.β
βWeβre trying to determine whether thereβs a relationship between what we had and whatβs happened in some other malls across the country,β he said.
Stehlik said that itβs βtoo early to tellβ the cause of the MOA melee.
βIβve heard all kinds of theories floated around, all the way from the false report that Lil Wayne was going to be at the mall,β Stehlik said. βIβve heard that it was one of these organized flash mobs where attendants get together to create a disturbance, Iβve heard gangs that didnβt like each other, groups from different schools, but all of this is frankly speculation.β
Stehlik said disorderly conduct cases typically do nor receive any investigative follow-up.
βItβs kind of a stand alone misdemeanor citation,β he said. βWeβre doing more follow-up than we ever would on a disorderly conduct charge to see if we can determine a cause.β

(Dec. 28, 12:49 a.m.) Two Roseville teenagers were among the 10 arrested at the Mall of America (MOA) on Dec. 27, on suspicion of disorderly conduct,Β the St. Paul Pioneer Press has reported.
Police arrested a total of 10 people in connection with a spree of violence at the mall Monday, mostly on suspicion of disorderly conduct, but none of the 10 have yet to be formally charged, the newspaper reported.
The Roseville teenagers were 16 and 17 years old.
The fightβwhich included several youths fistfighting and even throwing chairs βhas already made national news largely because of the mall's name and international reputation.Β Several YouTube videos surfaced late Monday after the melee.
Maureen Bausch, the vice president for operations at MOA,Β told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that rumors of the appearance of rap stars Lil' Wayne and Drake may have contributed to the fracas.
Social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook may have even played a coordinating role in the events if it were in fact a "flash rob," Bausch told the newspaper.Β
KSTP-TV reported Tuesday thatΒ security has been increased for the mall since the fights broke out.
