And the Midwest Emmy Goes To-Roseville's Tim Pratt

Tim Pratt, a Roseville city communications specialist, has won an Upper Midwest Emmy Award this month for his educational video “Boxes, Bottles and Banana Peels.” 

Pratt worked on the project with Ben Hanson of CTV North Suburbs. 

On Monday night, Pratt was able to share a bit of his glory with the Roseville City Council as he showed off the award and passed around the statue.

Council members were duly impressed and commended Pratt on the honor. “They (award presenters) let you keep the envelope after they open it!” Pratt said with a smile.

Pratt put his winning envelope on the overhead and sat at the table holding his award as the council asked him about the film.  

The video highlighted the partnership between Ramsey County and Parkview Center School. The school implemented a food waste to hogs program, and as a result increased recycling pick-up and decreased trash pick-up.  The program saved the school money.

The video, available on YouTube and the Ramsey County website, is a fun introduction to recycling as well as offering tips on how a school can start its own program. Pratt said that other schools that have seen the video are considering emulating the Parkview model.

The Upper Midwest Chapter of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is a membership organization dedicated to excellence in television.

The recylcling video has already won awards from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA), the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC) and the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC).
