Featured Roseville Blog: At The End of Your Rope?

Pain, problems, difficultly, challenges--we all face them. We all are at times at the end of our proverbial rope. But what if our "rope" is the thing that holds us back?

Have you ever felt like you were at the "end of your rope"? Could being at the end of your rope actually be a good thing?

Well, based on the message we discussed last Sunday at Grace Church Roseville - that was the conclusion! Let's talk about it....

First off you can listen online or download the full message here: http://www.extendgrace.org/mediaplayer.html

Even though we are at the end of our rope, it's nice to know we have a rope -- do you know what I'm saying? For some of us our rope is a relationship and even though that relationship may be challenging, difficult or painful, we tell ourselves, "well, at least I'm not alone!".

For others our rope is our jobs, our savings account, our abilities, or even our church or religion. But what if our "ropes" are the very thing that are holding us back?

You see when we face troubles our rope is that thing we turn to, look to, depend on, lean on. But God truly does care about us. He cares about our struggles and pain and those things are not part of God's original plan or design.

However, when we cling to those things that are not God, they become like "god" to us. We look for that person, job, money or even system to do something for us that they can't really do (at least not do very well). In fact everyone of those things will let us down, disappoint and frustrate us. The simple reason is they were never intended to be "god" for us.

God loves you and I so much that He sent Jesus to come for us. He lived a perfect life and died a gruesome death because of His love for you. You see the reason we have so many struggles in life is because of something called "sin". And sin always holds us back from God's best! Jesus came and died for our sin and therefore by placing our faith and trust in Jesus we have the potential of new life.

But often people don't ever find that life because something or someone else has become the thing we are depending on or looking to to provide that life for us (a little god). That person or thing becomes the rope we hang on to that could actually make us miss out on truly trusting in Jesus for true life.

While I don't want to get all "religious" on you, I actually don't view what I just wrote as being "religious" but rather an explanation of why people miss out on true faith. Religion is a system, sometimes a set of beliefs -- but what God is about is relationship, connection and faith.

Are you at the end of your rope? It may be time to let go of your rope and go forward with faith.

is a church made of imperfect people who seek and follow a perfect God. We are real and honest people who come together to discover life and how God intends for it to work.

With two Sunday services at 9 or 10:45am we are open to anyone and everyone. Join us and hear firsthand what it's all about.
