Roseville Blogger: What Can You Do For Healthy Eating and/or Caregiver Support?

Description of three pilot workshops available to the Roseville-area community.

Some of you know that I have been very concerned about increasing community services available for home caregivers.

As part of this, I have had the exceptional fortune to work with other like-minded individuals to develop two workshop series:  a Caregiver Support series and a Healthy Eating series.

The original thought was to offer these workshops to seniors in our community, but as the workshops evolved, it was decided that the workshops should be available to anyone who wanted to attend them. Roseville Lutheran Church has generously agreed to host the pilot workshops, which are described below.

The people planning and offering the workshops are not associated with any particular group, but are functioning as concerned community members.

If you or someone you know can benefit from attending one or more workshops, please share this information and register soon. If you have ever been overwhelmed by the information provided by medical personnel, when you receive a new diagnosis, this will help you learn something practical.

Preregistration is required for each workshop, to allow us to limit the attendance to 15 individuals per workshop session.  Sessions are scheduled in the mornings.

If more than 15 people wish to enroll in any particular workshop, a second session will be offered on the same afternoon as the morning session. There is a minimal charge for each workshop ($5), to partially cover the cost of handouts and refreshments.  This charge must be paid in cash at the door, as we do not have any other way to handle funds.

All participants will be asked to complete a short evaluation at the end of each workshop.  These evaluations will help us improve the workshops for future attendees. Suggestions for additional workshops will be happily received.

All workshops will be informal. They will be taught by professionals with
training appropriate to each workshop topic. These include, but are not limited
to, a registered dietician/certified diabetes educator, a nurse practioner/diabetes specialist, a registered dietician/developmental disabilities and elderly specialist and an occupational therapist.

Please join us for one or more workshops.

All workshops will be held at , 1215 W. Roselawn Ave. Beverages and snacks will be served and there will be handouts, so
preregistration is necessary for each workshop (651-647-9506).
