Brief cold snap sending temperatures plunging.

TheΒ National Weather ServiceΒ in Chanhassen has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for today, as arctic air moves into the Roseville area.

Wednesday night we hit a low of about 10 below zero with winds creating a wind chill in the range of near -30.

"[The arctic front] will usher in the coldest air of the winter season so far. It will become windy across west central through south central Minnesota, in the wake of the front, with northwest winds at 25 to 35 mph. This will be coupled with plummeting temperatures," the NWS release states.

Snow is also expected in the forecast, beginning Thursday afternoon. Today'sΒ  high is set for 3 degrees, with winds in that 15 mph range, keeping wind chill temps below zero for much of the day.

Thursday night, there is a 50 percent chance of snow, with a low of around zero. More snow is expected Friday, as temperatures rebound into the teens.

By the weekend, the Roseville area should see the 30s return, with a high for Sunday around 35.

Snow, however, remains in the forecase with a chance of precipitation each weekday next week, according to the 10-day forecast.
