Roseville Residents Have Options For Christmas Tree Disposal

Mulched trees can work in gardens or be disposed at area waste sites

Roseville residents have several options for disposing of their Christmas trees this year, from taking them to a yard waste site to mulching them up with a chipper.

The city has sent out information to residents regarding disposal. The options mainly consist of taking them to waste sites or recyclying the trees through compost or mulching.

"This is the information we provide to residents," Roseville city communications officer Carolyn Curti said. "They are responsible to make their own arrangements for disposing of trees."

Residents can have their trash hauler pick up the tree if the hauler can bring it to a compost site. Residents are asked to make arrangments with their trash hauler.

Roseville residents can also take their trees to the Midway Area Ramsey County Yard Waste site for free on Pierce Butler Route on Jan. 14-15. For more information call 651-633-3279. Wreaths and items with wire are not accepted at this site.

Another option: Mulching your Christmas tree with a chipper. The mulch works well for gardens. Chippers can be rented from home improvement stores.

Resources Recovery Tech disposal site in Minneapolis can also take trees. The site is located on 630 Malcom Ave., just off of Highway 280 and University Avenue., and the site is open Monday-Friday and Saturday Jan. 7 and 14. For more information, call 612-331-4610.
