Gi-normous Garage Sale Slated for June 1

Bargain hunters looking for clothes, toys and knick-knacks, get ready.

The city of Roseville is preparing to hold its fifth annual community-wide garage sale with upwards of 100 homes likely to participate in the extravaganza. The day-long event is scheduled for Saturday, June 1. 

For $10, the Roseville Parks and Recreation staff will include your address on its list and a map of garage sales. Call 651-792-7006 to sign up today. Deadline to be included on the list is Monday, May 20.

The city said a complete list and map will be available online and at City Hall starting Tuesday, May 28. For safety tips when holding a garage sale, log on to www.cityofroseville.com/police.

The idea for the city-wide garage sale was sparked by resident Mary (Nelson) Sherpa.

In a prior Roseville Patch story, Sherpa said she approached Roseville officials in 2008 about holding a community-wide garage sale because she had seen them in other cities like Woodbury and Falcon Heights.

Sherpa said the Roseville garage sale is a great way to attract people from outside the city to come and visit many homes within a short distance. And for residents holding garage sales, the event is a good way to recycle household goods and items they no longer want or need anymore, she said.
