Purpose of Position
To deliver all aspects of the Diversion Program, an alternative to juvenile court for teen offenders that facilitates appropriate consequences and reinforcement of positive choices and behaviors to help prevent future involvement with the juvenile justice system.

Job Responsibilities/Principal Duties

§ Manage an active case load of Diversion referrals, from intake to case closure.
§ Work with Law Enforcement, School Officials and Parents to develop appropriate Diversion Contracts for referred youth.
§ Assist in delivery and co-facilitation of Diversion Awareness Seminars
§ Manage/assist Diversion referrals in connecting with community resources for service hours and other growth opportunities
§ Develop and maintain working relationships with referral sources –Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, local police departments & school districts.
§ Ensure accurate statistical data is maintained and submitted in a timely manner
§ Manage costs and revenues to ensure a balanced Diversion budget.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Abilities)
§ Four year degree in human services, preferably youth related, or criminal justice.
§ 2 years experience working with youth
§ Working understanding of issues related to adolescent development
§ Working understanding of youth programming principles
§ Ability to work with diverse populations
§ Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
§ Ability to work in a collaborative environment
§ Must have car and valid MN driver’s license
§ Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
§ Basic computer skills
§ Must be able to develop meaningful solutions for unengaged and resistant youth.
