Holiday Craft Fair

Make plans for a nice day of holiday shopping at the 8th annual Holiday Craft Fair, December 3rd and 4th at Roseville City Hall. Spread out over two levels, more than fifty local crafters and artists will be selling their all-handmade wares. Items include soaps and balms; natural stone, fused glass, beaded and other fine jewelry; photography; pottery; knitted items; gifts for pets; fairy and bird houses; paintings; and much more. Back this year is the special “Green Gifts” room, filled with crafters who make things of a “green” nature, such as by recycling materials, or items that help you live a more green life.

After a bit of shopping, take a break for a coffee or a bite to eat on the lower level with Cafe Zia. Their permanent location is just a stone’s throw away from City Hall, on Lexington Avenue just north of Woodhill Drive. In the same area as Cafe Zia will be the Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC) Advisory Committee selling items such as stuffable tote bags along with a free, nature-related make-and-take craft for all ages.

UPDATE!! There's been an exciting addition to the event! The Friends of Roseville's Harriet Alexander Nature Center (FORHANC) is conducting a raffle to raise funds that will go towards a new interactive exhibit at the nature center. The item being raffled off is a special print of a painting entitled "Feeding Time" by Rick Morkel, a well-known and honored artist from Waterloo, Iowa. The nature center owns the original painting - here's a photo of it hanging in the exhibit area. The print is very nicely framed (frame measures 36" by 29"), a bit smaller than the original. During the Holiday Craft Fair only, for not too much money you can buy a chance, or multiple chances! to take this beautiful print home with you. Even if you don't win the raffle, you win by your support of the Harriet Alexander Nature Center and its mission of environmental recreation and education. More details about this special print will be posted on the FORHANC website in the next day or two - check www.forhanc.org.

Sale hours are 10:00am - 5:00pm on Saturday, 12:00 - 4:00pm on Sunday. There’s no admission charge and plenty of convenient parking. City Hall is located at 2660 Civic Center Drive, at the corner of Lexington Avenue and County Road C (across from the OVAL/Roseville Skating Center).

The Holiday Craft Fair is put on by volunteers from the Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC); crafter fees support environmental education programs. For more information about the event, including an interactive map, a list of participating crafters, a slideshow of some of their work, and much more, go to www.HolidayCraftFair.com. For more information about the nature center, please call (651) 765-HANC (4262) or visit www.CityofRoseville.com/HANC.
