The Roseville String Ensemble will sponsor a lecture Jan. 10 by cellist and author Janet Horvath on injury prevention for musicians. Horvath has been the associate principal cellist of the Minnesota Orchestra for 30 years and is the author of "Playing (Less) Hurt: An Injury Prevention Guide for Musicians."
Horvath's presentation will include information on why it may hurt to play, what injuries may occur, what risky postures are, and how to avoid injury and experience a long and fruitful career. There will be a demonstration of stretches, which can even be done backstage and onstage in full dress and while holding one’s instrument. All musicians may try the stretches without instruments. Several props, splints, and tools are demonstrated.
Admission is $20. For more information, email info@rosevillestrings.org or call 651-483-5094.
