IT MIGHT BE CALLED A RUN BUT THIS IS NOT A RACE!!!
Shake, Shimmy, Sweat will be hosting a traditional Poker Run to help raise money for some new equipment and small fixes around the studio. This is a great opportunity to bring out your friends, socialize, eat/drink well and have a great time! We know it is early in October, but we would love to see some people come out in costume!

WHAT IS A POKER RUN? A poker run is an organized event where participants, usually using motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, or horses, must visit five to seven checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. At each designated stop, the participants draw a card at random. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. The event has a time limit, however the participants are not timed—winning is purely a matter of chance. This is not a race, but a social event. We encourage people to stop at the check points and have food or drink and talk to other participants playing and then move on to the next check point.
The events actually have little to do with poker, beyond using the hand-rankings to score the event. You don't need to know a great deal about poker to take part, other than what beats what in the scoring - and even that should be done for participants by the organisers. Essentially a poker run is an excuse to meet up, travel, and have a good time at the stops en route.
WHAT's THE CATCH? We aren't allowing cars (motorcycles ok but we prefer no motor vehicles at all). We would like to make this a fitness event. Let's try to walk, run, roller blade, bicycle ect, to all the stops (it isn't that big of a route). *the route is clinton township into roseville and back again
PRIZES will be given to the winners of several different categories (such as best poker hand, 3 or more of the same card, royal flush, most creative Halloween costume, ect). There will also be separate raffles for those who completed the event entirely without a motorized vehicle.
INVITE EVERYONE you know. This is an event for everyone and anyone. The more the merrier!!!
Tickets for the event are $20 pre-sale and $25 at the door. We will be giving away great prizes (such as gift baskets and gift cards) and we will also have a small cocktail party at the finish point. ANYONE THAT BRINGS A DISH TO PASS AT THE AFTER PARTY WILL RECEIVE A FREE CLASS PASS !!! All ages welcome (please note some of the check points are bars and there is a fee for everyone that shows up at start/finish line).
