1. Jimi Hendrix "Smash Hits" released; July 1969.
I probably first saw this LP cover in the Spring of 1970 when my Uncle Jeff was living with us in Sioux City, Iowa on 3100 Douglas St. Jeff graduated in 1968 & he was acquaintances with Tommy Bolin (Zephyr, James Gang, Deep Purple). I used to look through his record collection down in my Dad's makeshift Pub, in our basement. I remember looking at the cover (as a 7 year old kid) thinking: "Wow, look at the way that guy moves, and he dresses so cool, now that's a real hippy" I was too young to understand double exposure photography. I just loved the psychedelic colors of the lettering. Then I got the LP.... the music contained Blew My Mind ..."Purple Haze" "Foxy Lady" "Fire" "Hey Joe" "Stone Free" and the greatest song ever recorded "All Along The Watchtower". Even though this is a "Best Of" this contains 4 songs not on any other USA LP.

2. "The Super Hits: Volume 1" Atlantic Records A-501: released in 1967.
My Mom met my Dad in late 1967, when they got married a year later we moved in with him, he had very few records in his collection but one he had was "The Super Hits: Vol 1" as a 5 year old kid, I loved the cover, I used to look at it and try to figure out what those cartoons meant, as I could not read. I should clarify my Aunt Debby used to play 'Dave Clark 5' & 'Beatles' records for me when I was about 13 months old, there is a 8mm video of me dancing next to her record player. So I have loved music & records since mid- 1964. As I got older I discovered the cartoons represented the songs: Rascals "Good Lovin" Aretha Franklin "Respect" Sam & Dave "Hold On, I'm Coming" Joe Tex "S.Y.S.L.J.F.M." Wilson Pickett "In The Midnight Hour" & Percy Sledge "When A Man Loves A Woman”, incidentally I have met 3 of the 4 'Rascals' & Sam Moore of ' Sam & Dave’.
I would like to add,
I started collecting Vinyl Records in May 1969 and started selling used records from my parents carport, in Jackson, Mississippi in June 1977, from there I moved into the Retail Record Business starting in 1985 until today, I have worked for "RecordShop" "Archives" Wherehouse" "Best Buy" & "DiscJockey" in Iowa, RecordShop In Arizona & "fye" & DiscLand" in Minnesota.
I write a monthly music column since April 2011, when 2 DJs; Don Anger & Izzy Presley from St. Cloud's "Rockin 101" WHMH show "Under The Covers" came into my RecordShop "Mr. Zero's Inc. 55113" to interview me after reading an article on me & my store in the "City Pages". They wanted to get me involved with the station, I did end up supplying some 'rare cover songs' for their show, however, this encounter did lead to me writing my column for the St. Cloud "BUZZ" from April 2011 to November 2016. This lead to me writing film reviews on obscure films from long ago for the website "Lost My Stub" starting in November 2011, so far a total of 20 articles. Meanwhile Scott Carlson wrote an article on me & my store & my band (MrZERo) for the "Roseville Patch .Com" which lead to them asking me to run my "BUZZ" articles on their publication starting in February 2013 to this day for a total of 96 articles so far.

I have done a yearly guest spot on radio KFAI with the "Pop Shop" (thanks to DJ Izzy & Liberty Finch) since October 2012 for a total of 7, two hour episodes, up to as recently as March 2018. I have turned that into a weekly radio show on WDGY 740am & Streaming & FM: 92.1, 103.7, 107.1, Sunday's 10:30am (CT) as "Mr. Zero's PsychoGello Vinyl Radio Show" (thanks to Keith Johnson's "Ground Breakers") where each week we cover a different music artist and play one song from each of their releases, as best we can in a 1/2 hour format, we then upload the show to www.MrZeroS.Com -Podcast, there are over 61 episodes available there for FREE!
I did have a cover band also called "MrZERo" with 3 friends I met at my RecordStore: Mitch Anderson: Guitar & Keys, Dave Columbus: Drums & Vocals & Zack Plese: Guitar, from November 2012 to February 2015. That helped launch my 1974 KISS Tribute band "KISSin Time" (MPLS) that MN Pete Campbell (St. Cloud) & I formed in September 2013, which is still currently performing today, with current members: Xenia & JAce, check us out on "fb".
You can find me and all of my projects on: fb, Twitter, Instagram, Pintrest, Youtube & MySpace.
