The film runs about an hour and a half; it was written and directed by Caspian Tredwell-Owen, whose other credits includeΒ Β Beyond Borders (2003) and The Island (2005), according to Wikipedia.Β
In a press release, the film's publicists said "Profile of a Killer" has been enjoying a wave of grass-roots support with audiences calling it Β βthought provoking.βΒ
βI first conceived the movie in the wake of the shootings at Columbineβ, Β Tredwell-Owen said in a statement. βIt was tragic but somehow it seemed like a harbinger as wellβ.
Tredwell-Owen said he cast his antagonist as a 15-year-old boy named βDavidβ, who proves a cunning and resourceful adversary to both the police and his nemesis, FBI Profiler βSaulβ. The movie explores Davidβs psyche and the forces that forged it.
βWe live in a media-driven cultureβ said Tredwell-Owen, βwhere non-entity can become celebrity overnight, with no apparent effort or merit. David is simply struggling with the question of how to βbe somebodyβ in the 21st century.Β βMore and more, weβre venturing to extremes to get attention in what is now, thanks to social media, a global forum. What worries me is - where will it end?β
