Northwestern College Gets Classroom Space for Nursing Program With Roseville Council Vote

The Roseville Council voted 3-1 Monday evening to change the zoning of the private Christian liberal arts collegeβs office building located at 2803 Lincoln Drive to allow for academic use.
The building will now be used for classroom space for the schoolβs nursing program. The program has 25 to 30 students and needs 7,300 square feet of space, a college representative said.
Council member Tammy McGehee cast the lone vote opposing the change in zoning.
βI think itβs bad precedent,β she said. βI donβt necessarily think that we want to have this kind of activity in our commercial areas unless itβs a for-profit temporary thing where they rent a buildingβI donβt support the taking of commercial space for this kind of use.β
None of the other council members voiced any objections, and council member Jeff Johnson expressed pleasure that the schoolβs program that partners with a nearby assisted living home.
βI commend Northwestern for actually working within the community,β Johnson said.
