Raiders, Beacons Gearing Up For Postseason

Several area athletic teams either have begun or are preparing for sectional playoffs.

Several teams from Roseville and Concordia Academy are passing from the regular season into the postseason as the spring sports campaign marches closer to its conclusion.

Roseville Baseball: Raiders Conclude Regular Season With A .500 Record

With an 8-5 loss at Suburban East Conference rival Park on May 20, the Roseville baseball team concluded its regular season with a 10-10 overall record, while falling to 8-10 in the final circuit tally.

Individual statistics were not available. The Raiders now prepare for the Section 4AAA Tournament, which is set to run from May 26-June 8.

Roseville Softball: Raiders Enter Sectional Playoffs

After closing out the regular season with a 4-13 overall record and a 3-11 conference mark, the Roseville softball team earned a No. 9 seed for the Section 4AAA playoffs and play at No. 8 White Bear Lake at 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

The Raiders defeated Cretin-Derham Hall, 4-3, in the regular-season finale on May 16.

Erika Allen led Roseville with a .350 batting average this spring, with Maria Ascher's eight runs scored and Jordan Capeti's eight runs batted in both pacing the team.

Pitcher Emma Hylen and Aryka Knoche both won two games this season, with Hylen striking out 40 batters while posting a 3.77 earned run average and Knochke whiffing 25 opponents with a 3.08 ERA.

Roseville Girls Lacrosse: Raiders Host Breck In Playoff Opener

The Roseville girls lacrosse team earned a No. 5 seed for the Section 5 playoffs and will host No. 12 seed Breck on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the postseason opener after putting together a 9-3 record in the regular season.

Kendal Evenson scored 43 goals to lead the Raiders this spring, followed by Sarah Hill with 33 goals, Lee Stecklein with 26 goals and Kate Flug with 16 goals.

Roseville Boys Lacrosse: Raiders Head To Playoffs With 4-7 Record

After defeating Suburban East champion Mounds View, 6-5, on May 16 to highlight the final week of its regular season, the Roseville boys lacrosse team heads to the Section 5 playoffs with a 4-7 record.

The Raiders claimed an 11th-seed for the Section 5 playoffs and will begin the tournament at No. 6 Woodbury at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Brian Hughes' 12 goals led the Raiders this spring, with goaltender Anthony Barrett making 134 saves in regular season play.

Roseville Boys Tennis: Raiders Team Season Ends In Stillwater Loss

The Roseville boys tennis team's season concluded on May 19 as the No. 4 seed Raiders were upset, 6-1, by No. 5 seed Stillwater in the quarterfinals of the Section 4AA Tournament.

Individual statistics were not available. It's team season concluded, Roseville netters now prepare for the sectional individual tournament that begins on Thursday.

Roseville Boys Golf: Raiders Fourth At Highland National

A card of of 309 earned the Roseville boys golf team a fourth-place tie in a Suburban East meet at Highland National Golf Course in St. Paul on May 19. Individual statistics were not available.

Roseville Girls Golf: Raiders Fifth At Prestwick

The Roseville girls golf team logged a 189 to finish fifth in a Suburban East meet at Prestwick Golf Course in Woodbury on May 19. Individual statistics were not available.

Concordia Baseball: Beacons Begin Playoffs This Week

Holding an 8-9 record heading into its regular-season finale at Buffalo on Monday night, the Concordia Academy baseball team also looks to the beginning of the Section 4AA Tournament this coming Saturday.

The Beacons earned a No. 9 seed for the sectional bracket and will play No. 8 DeLaSalle at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis on May 28 at 1 p.m.

Concordia lost its Tri-Metro Conference finale on May 20, 9-8, versus St. Paul Academy to fall to 6-5 in circuit play this spring.

Concordia Softball: Beacons Season Ends With Loss To Visitation

The Concordia Academy softball team's season came to an end with an 11-4 loss to Visitation in the second round of the Section 4AA playoffs on May 20 after the Beacons defeated Breck, 10-0, in the postseason opener on May 18.

Individual statistics were not available. The Beacons ended their spring with a 13-8 record.

Concordia Boys Golf: Mounds Park Academy 177, Beacons 182

The Concordia Academy boys golf team lost a Tri-Metro dual meet against Mounds Park Academy, 177-182, on May 16 at Hillcrest Golf Course. Individual statistics were not available.
