Recycling & Energy Center Virtual Tour Now Available In Ramsey County

All trash from residents and businesses in Ramsey and Washington counties is delivered to the Ramsey/Washington Recycling & Energy Center (R&E Center) in Newport, where it is processed to recover value.

The trash passes through a processing system that recovers recyclable metals and then the remaining trash is turned into a fuel source that Xcel Energy uses to generate electricity. Soon, additional equipment will be added to the R&E Center to enable the recovery of additional recyclable materials as well as food scraps.
