State Rep. Bev Scalze to Leave Roseville for Senate Run

Rep. Bev Scalze will run for a vacant senate seat in District 42.

Rep. Bev Scalze, who has represented Roseville in the Minnesota House for almost a decade, will run for a vacant state senate seat created by the redistricting process, leaving open House District 43A, which includes four precincts of northern Roseville.

Scalze, a business owner and artist, will run for the open seat in District 42.Β

β€œSince one side is open, I think my experience will help unify that whole district into one, and the northern Ramsey County district, with its small cities, is similar to the district I currently represent,” she said. β€œI think it’s a good fit for me.”

Scalze said she knows of several people who are considering running for her vacated House District 43A but that no one has yet committed to entering the race.

β€œI wanted to get my name out there so that people can decide what to do with the rest of their lives as wellβ€”if they want to run for my house seat,” she said. β€œWe’ll see what happens at the convention on March 31.”
