Rosefest's Movies in the Park is a Success

Roseville citizens gathered for movies and family fun at the OVAL Saturday night.

The John Rose Minnesota OVAL that is usually filled with the sound of skateboards was replaced with children’s laughter Saturday night.

Mpre than 200 people gathered around the big screen for "Despicable Me" and "How to Train a Dragon" for a night of outdoor fun.

Families and teenagers alike gathered on blankets and chairs, enjoying popcorn, candy and soda between their giggles.

Bridget Ritzer, Kalley Stern and Sequoia Smith, all 14, were enjoying their independence after being dropped off to view the movie alone.

“We are having a blast. This is my favorite movie so I was really excited to hear they were playing it,” Stern said with a smile.

Nestled in the mass of Roseville citizens was a family of 50 that gathered at the event to celebrate a retirement party.

Among those was Bella Hang, 10, who remained in the back of the park. She was perched high on a skate ramp, away from the rest of the crowd.

“I have a good view of my brothers up here,” she said between a giggle. They picked good movies. This was a really fun activity that my whole family got to do together.”

According to OVAL employees, this is the third year they have hosted Movies in the Park. They have been pleased with the turnout each year.
