Rosetown Legion Drops Matchup with Maplewood Green

Rosetown lost 8-2 on Saturday at Hill-Murray

The Rosetown American Legion baseball team dropped an 8-2 decision to Maplewood Green on Saturday at Hill-Murray High School.

Rosetown grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, then tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the second. But Maplewood scored twice in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead and never looked back.

Maplewood scored two in the fourth and one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings to pick up the win.

Ryan Busch led the way for Rosetown. Busch went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI in the game. Charlie Pelzer went 2-for-3, Austin Colvard went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Zach Hayes went 1-for-3 with a run.

Eden Cranston and Tim Truninger each picked up a hit.

Cranston took the loss on the mound. He pitched three innings and allowed six runs—all earned—on eight hits. He struck out three and walked four.

Rosetown has two scheduled regular season games remaining. The squad will face Hamline Red at 6 p.m. on Monday at St. Paul Academy, then will host White Bear Orange at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
