Rosetown Legion Wins Moose Country Tournament
The American Legion baseball team beat West St. Paul and Stillwater on Sunday to claim its third straight Moose Country title.
The Rosetown American Legion baseball team won the Moose Country Wood Bat Tournament on Sunday in Mendota Heights.
Rosetown defeated West St. Paul 7-1 and followed it up with a 7-3 win over Stillwater on Sunday, securing its third straight Moose Country title at Henry Sibley High School.
The wins came a day after the Legion went 2-1 in the preliminary round. Rosetown beat St. Paul Park 3-1 on Friday and Rosemount 6-3 on Saturday before losing to Stillwater 2-1 in 10 innings on Saturday night.

But the Legion rebounded on Sunday morning with a 7-1 win over West St. Paul. Chris Dishop went 4-for-4 with two runs to lead the team at the plate, while Ryan Busch, Charlie Pelzer and Nick Pitzl each drove in two runs.
The support was more than enough for pitcher Eden Cranston, who pitched six innings and allowed one run on four hits while striking out six to pick up the win.

That set up a rematch with Stillwater in the championship game. This time, Rosetownβs offense powered past Stillwater for the win.
Ryan Busch went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, Cranston went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and Dishop went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the way. Rosetown trailed 3-2 in the top of the fifth, but a run in the fifth and four runs in the sixth helped create separation on the scoreboard.
Pitzl pitched three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win. He allowed two hits and struck out one in the final three innings. Cory Strecker pitched the first four innings and allowed three runs on six hits. He struck out two.
The Legionβs next game is Monday at 6 p.m. against Tri-City Maroon at Irondale. Their next home game is Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Hamline Purple.
Rosetown has won six of its last seven games.
