Roger B. Hess Jr. disputed the premise of the contest:

Unfortunately, we don't have a real "bar" in Rosevilleβ€”only restaurants that happen to also sell alcohol. For some reason the council will not allow us to have a traditional corner bar, which virtually every other city in the world has. We just have cookie-cutter chains like Applebees, Green Mill, Old Chicago, etc. For some reason we can't have a place with "local flavor." The closest we have are B-Dale Men's Club, the VFW, and the American Legion.
