Sammy Nielsen, middle-distance runner, and Roseville Area High School track and cross country star, has been named the 2013 Prep Athlete of the Year by the Pioneer Press.
Next year, Nielsen will take her talents to Drake University in Iowa.
From the Pioneer Press article:
"This is a bittersweet time for me," she said. "I had a fantastic high school journey, but I'm also confident I've done all I can in high school. I pursued many avenues that have prepared me to move on. If I came back for another year of high school, I don't know for sure what else I'd try to do."
