Roseville High Graduate Dies on I-694 After He Laid Down in Front of Truck

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 17.

A Roseville High School graduate driving along westbound Interstate 694 Tuesday afternoon pulled over to the shoulder, got out of his car and laid down in front of a semitrailer, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Lance L. Lieder, 22, of Maplewood, died after being hit by the truck, according to the State Patrol.

Lieder graduated in May 2008 from Roseville High School, said Sara Nystuen, a district official.

The incident happened around McKnight Road, according to the State Patrol.

Westbound Interstate 694 was shut down from White Bear Avenue to Century Avenue, following the incident, according to the State Patrol, and re-opened at about 4:20 p.m.

KARE-11 has photos from overhead of a tanker truck pulled over at the scene.

Since October, three people have died in apparent suicides from stepping into interstate traffic in the Twin Cities, according to the Pioneer Press.
