Friday Last Day To Register for Roseville Kids Ice Fishing Contest

Competition scheduled Saturday, Feb.4 at Lake Johanna.

Announcements from the city of Roseville:

The Roseville Parks and Recreation Department invites kids ages six to 14 to participate in an Ice Fishing Contest Saturday, Feb. 4 at Lake Johanna.

We’ll have the holes drilled and the bait waiting for you at Lake Johanna Beach, 3500 Lake Johanna Blvd., Arden Hills. Fishing begins at 11 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m.

Today (Friday) is the last day to register for the contest. A Parks and Rec representative said they are frequently checking the ice and still hope to hold the contest despite the recent warm weather.Β 

Trophies and prizes for the biggest fish, most fish and smallest fish will be given. Take your chance on drawings for gift packs.Β Guides will be on hand to answer questions and help children catch fish.Β  Parents are encouraged to spend the day with their children.Β

Please dress warmly and have waterproof boots. Bring ice fishing equipment if you have it. A limited number of rods and reels will be available. Cost is $21 per child. Call 651-792-7110 to register.

If you are new to fishing or looking for pointers join us for an ice fishing open house at Roseville Skating Center, 2661 Civic Center Drive,Β on Friday, February 3. Professional guides will host an ice fishing clinic and offer fish catching secrets for the kids.Β  Participants can register for the tournament, if space remains.
