Roseville Patch Game of The Week: Raiders' Girls Cross Country Team Heads to Metro Invite
Roseville faces tough competition in the Metro Invite held in Eden Prairie this weekend.

The Raiders are preparing for another state tournament run. They finished 12th in the state finals last year and are hoping for an even better performance this season, despite losing four of their top five runners to graduation.
The Raiders finished fifth in the Bauman/Rovin Cross-Country Invitational (Hopkins Invite) field this past weekend. Junior Sammy Nielsen was the top runner for the Raiders, finishing eighth. Junior Allison Cordes was 15th and sophomore Caroline Brisbois was 20th. They won the Rolf Melby Invite held the previous weekend at St. Olaf, beating out 24 teams. Nielsen was fourth, Cordes was sixth and Brisbois finished tenth.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Sammy Nielsen - Roseville
Nielsen finished 25th in the state tournament last season and has made tremendous strides this season. She has lowered her time in the past two meets and won the Central open, the first event of the season.
Allison Cordes – Roseville
Cordes has had back-to-back strong finishes at two of the top state meets.
Caroline Brisbois – Roseville
Brisbois had a personal best 15:50.6 in the 4,000 meters at this weekend’s Hopkins Invite.
