UPDATED: Police Looking for Pistol-Whipping Roseville Home Invaders

The Thursday evening incident was the first Roseville home invasion robbery in five to ten years.

Updated Dec. 27, 6:10 p.m.: When police responded to a call about a Roseville home invasion robbery last Thursday at Legacy Endeavors—the Lexington Avenue adult foster care facility where three assailants pistol-whipped a staff member and stole cash, cell phones and a credit card—it wasn’t the first time they had been in the neighborhood.

Incident reports show that officers have been called to 2809 Lexington Avenue North seven times since April, including two calls for “suspicious activities,” one for “mistreatment of a vulnerable adult” and one for a noise violation.

Lt. Lorne Rosand said that police did not believe any of the previous incidents to be related to Thursday’s robbery—the first home invasion robbery in Roseville in five to 10 years—and that he did not know why (or if) the assailants chose to target the Lexington Avenue foster care facility.

The assailants knocked on the door, staff opened the door and the home was invaded, Rosand said.

According to the state department of Human Services’ website, the Lexington Avenue Legacy Endeavors facility has a three-resident capacity.

Suellen Shahin, the Human Resources director at Legacy Endeavors, declined to comment on the robbery.

Dec. 23, 6:10 p.m.: Roseville police are looking for three suspects who menaced residents at a group home on the 2800 block of Lexington Avenue Thursday evening.

An employee who couldn’t produce cash or drugs was pistol-whipped several times to the head, police said. The assailants proceeded to ransack the home for the next 15 minutes, ripping phone lines from walls, confiscating cell phones, stealing cash and warning residents not to call the police.

Witnesses said the suspects were three black males, age 18 to 20, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet tall.

One vulnerable adult was forced to give out her credit card PIN.

Surveillance footage from a nearby convenience store, taken shortly after the home invasion, shows three suspects, accompanied by a woman, withdrawing cash with the stolen card, police said.

The employee who was struck with a pistol was treated and released at a local hospital. No residents were injured.

Police said it was the first home invasion robbery in a decade and that they were not sure whether the home was specifically targeted or selected at random, according to the Pioneer Press.

Police are urging anyone who recognizes the suspects to call 1-800-222-8477 or visit crimestoppersmn.org.
