Roseville's Sen. Marty Shares Story of Lesbian Couple During Senate Floor Debate
State Sen. John Marty (D-66) shared a story about a lesbian couple with a daughter during a debate on the Senate floor about a bill to legalize gay marriage in Minnesota.

Sen. John Marty (D-66) spoke Monday in favor of a bill to legalize gay marriage in Minnesota.
In his floor speech, Marty spoke about a lesbian couple both of whom serve as ministers and have a young daughter.
"The bottom line is that our state doesn't recognize them as a legal family. This legislation is so incredibly important to that family, and every family that's been denied the rights in this state until now. This legislation will finally this week change all that and give them the same recognition that my wife and I have, and most of the people in this room have. The same recogntion — nothing more and nothing less."
