Roseville School Board Lawyers Weighing Charges of Improper Political Activity
Former Roseville mayor charges district employees, resources used for partisan purposes

Attorneys for Roseville Area Schools are reviewing allegations by former Mayor John Kysylyczyn that the district and School Board improperly used employees and resources for political purposes.
Kysylyczyn, whose children are enrolled in the district, issued the charges at a board meeting earlier this month. He claimed that district employees and board members were improperly involved in the development of a recent letter sent to parents urging them to contact legislators to end of the state budget stalemate, and that the district wrongly used its resources to distribute the letter. These activities, Kysylyczyn charged, were political and violated board policy and Minnesota law.
“We have referred this matter to the district’s legal counsel for review,” Board Chairwoman Lisa Edstrom said Tuesday. “We will report to the public once that review is complete.”
