Roseville Sports Roundup: Beacons Win Big On Homecoming

Concordia football rocks Brooklyn Center, 35-6, on Friday night.

The Concordia Academy football team in Rosevlle roared to a big Homecoming night victory to highight the week's athletic schedule as the calendar turned from September to October.

Concordia Football

Christian Koehn ran for two touchdowns, while Lorin Edmund passed and rushed for two more scores as the Concordia football team blew out Brooklyn Center, 35-6, on Friday.

Koehn put the Beacons up for good on a fumble-return touchdown in the second quarter and the hosts never looked back en route to improving to 3-2 this season.

Roseville Boys Soccer

A 3-1 loss to North St. Paul on Saturday dropped the Roseville boys soccer team to 5-5-4 overall with two games left in the regular season. 

The Raiders, 3-2-2 in the Suburban East Conference, host Stillwater on Tuesday and Cretin-Derham Hall on Thursday in their final pre-playoff tuneups.

Elvis Barclay leads Roseville with 10 goals, with Matt Allen's four goals good for second on the squad.

Concordia Boys Soccer

The Concordia boys soccer team went 2-1-1 last week, defeating St. Croix Lutheran and Brooklyn Center while tying West Lutheran 0-0 and losing to South St. Paul to take a 4-8-3 overall record into the final week of the regular season.

The Beacons, 3-5 in the Tri-Metro Conference, host St. Agnes on Tuesday before finishing the regular season on the road at Providence Academy on Thursday and at St. Paul Como Park on Friday.

Pheng Thao leads Concordia with four goals, followed by Jonathan Britton, Josh Falk, Mitchell Porch and Christian Friberg all having scored twice each entering this week.

Concordia Girls Soccer

A four-game losing streak that included a 2-1 setback to St. Croix Lutheran on Sept. 27 dropped the Concordia girls soccer team to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Tri-Metro. Individual statistics were not made available.

Roseville Girls Soccer

The Roseville High School girls soccer team claimed its second victory of the season, 1-0, at Forest Lake last Thursday, improving to 2-12 overall and 2-5 in the Suburban East. Roseville has home games against Stillwater and Cretin this Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. Individual statistics were not made available.

Concordia Volleyball

The Concordia volleyball team went 5-3 to finish second at the Park of Cottage Grove Tournament on Saturday and improve to 11-9 on the season.

Individual statistics were not made available. The Beacons enter this week with a 5-2 mark in the Tri-Metro Conference.

Roseville Volleyball

Three-straight 3-1 losses, including setbacks against Stillwater and Mounds View last week, brought the Roseville volleyball team to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in the Suburban East entering this week. Individual statistics were not made available.

Roseville Girls Tennis

The Roseville girls tennis team wrapped up the regular season with three-straight wins, 6-1 versus Park and Woodbury as well as 5-2 against East Ridge to improve to 11-10 this fall. Individual statistics were not made available.

Results from meets involving the Roseville cross-country and girls swim/dive team were not available.
