Section Playoffs: Concordia Academy Faces Uphill Battle

St. Anthony Village shut them out at home during the regular season, so the Concordia Academy Beacons in Roseville have their work cut out for them Saturday, when they'll try to avenge that loss on the road in the Section 4AAA playoffs

Concordia Academy (6-3) beat New Life Academy 14-6. St. Anthony Village (7-2) shut out St. Paul Como Park 37-0.

THIS WEEK

The third-seeded Beacons hit the road to face the second-seeded Huskies, who shut them out during the regular season.

LAST TIME AROUND …

St. Anthony Village jumped to a 21-0 first-half lead, then the teams battled to a scoreless draw in the second half.

BEACONS WIN IF …

They can match their second-half performance from the first meeting with the Huskies. The points will come, and as long as they can replicate the defensive effort from the last 24 minutes they spent on the field with St. Anthony Village, they will at least have a shot at reaching the section finals.

HUSKIES WIN IF …

St. Anthony Village brings a pretty impressive resume into this one. The Huskies' only two losses are to Tri-Metro East champ St. Croix Lutheran and Tri-Metro West co-champ DeLaSalle, with all six of their regular-season wins by comfortable margins. If they can jump out to another early lead, the game is theirs to lose.
