Sports Roundup: Roseville, Concordia Enter Heart Of Fall Sports Season
Raiders and Beacons compete in a full slate of post-Labor Day contests during the first week of school.

Roseville Area High School and Concordia Academy athletic teams returned to competition following the Labor Day holiday, playing a full schedule against opponents over the first week of school.
Beacons Football
Dan Hartman threw for two touchdowns and 244 yards as the Concordia football team defeated Tri-Metro Conference opponent Minnehaha Academy, 34-21, for its first win of the season on Friday.

Christian Koehn ran for 215 yards and three touchdowns, as Baeza Tensaie and Michael Beale hauled in one touchdown pass each in the victory.

The Roseville cross-country running teams competed at the Bauman/Rovn Invitational last Thursday, with the girls taking fifth and the boys placing eighth.
Sammy Nielsen led the girls with an eighth-place finish of 15 minutes, 31.8 seconds, followed by Allison Cordes (15:41.1) in 15th, Caroline Brisbois (15:50.6) in 20th, Anna Nelson (16:20.2) in 35th and Olivia Hansen (17:12.1) in 72nd.
Sam Elfstrom paced the boys with a 16th-place run of 17:00.2, with Sam Toso (17:24.5) in 29th, Shane Carlson (17:29.4) in 31st, Tony Joyer (18:10.3) in 58th and Lucas Mason (18:12.8 in 60th.
Raiders Girls Soccer
A 3-2 defeat of Suburban East Conference foe Hastings last Thursday was the first win of the season for the Roseville grls soccer team as the Raiders entered this week with a 1-6 record.
Chloe Boehm scored twice against Hastings and also assisted on an Emma Schaefer goal in the victory.
Raiders Boys Soccer
The Roseville boys soccer team topped Hastings, 7-1, on Thursday and defeated St. Paul Johnson, 7-0, on Saturday to improve to 3-2-1 on the season.
Elvis Barclay leads the Raiders with nine goals this season after scoring four times in the two games. Goalkeepers Sam Bibeau and Jordan Burich split the victories in net, with Burich netting his first shutout of the season against the Governors.
Roseville Volleyball
A three-game sweep at the hands of SEC rival Cretin-Derham Hall dropped the Roseville volleyball team to 1-3 on the season. Individual statistics were not available.
Raiders Girls Swimming and Diving
The Roseville girls swimming and diving team lost at Stillwater last Thursday in a SEC dual meet.
Cailtin Gastecki won the 500-yard freestyle for Roseville in a time of 5:37.10, with the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Gastecki, Kallie Nelson, Sungmoon Lim and Lauren Kacmarynski also taking first in a time of 1:49.14.
Raiders Girls Tennis
The Roseville girls tennis team lost 4-3 at Forest Lake last Tuesday and 6-1 to Cretin last Thursday in conference play before splitting its two matches at the Anoka Tournament, topping the hosts, 5-2, and losing to Rogers, 4-3, on Saturday. Individual statistics were not available.
Beacons Boys Soccer
The Concordia boys soccer team fell to 1-4-1 with three-straight shutout losses to Minnehaha Academy (1-0), St. Paul Academy (3-0) and Holy Family Catholic (3-0) last week. Individual statistics were not available.
Beacons Girls Soccer
Back-to-back losses to Minnehaha Academy (3-1) and St. Paul Academy (9-0) dropped the Concordia girls soccer team to 2-3 on the season. Individual statistics were not available.
Beacons Volleyball
The Concordia volleyball team finished 12th in the Aerie Challenge in Apple Valley on Saturday, going 1-3 with a win over Park of Cottage Grove in tournament play to enter this week at 2-4 on the year. Individual statistics were not made available.
