Sports Roundup: Season Comes To An End For Roseville-area Soccer Squads
Roseville, Concordia boys and girls teams all eliminated in sectional tournaments.

It is that time of year when the heartbreak of a season's end is worn on many a sleeve. Soccer squads from both Roseville and Concordia Academy all experienced the bitter taste of defeat as their seasons came to a close in their respective sectional tournaments last week.
Roseville Soccer
The Roseville soccer teams both fell in the Section 5AA Tournament, with the boys winning once before losing in the semifinals and the girls suffering an opening-round defeat.

Third-seeded Maple Grove ended the sixth-seeded Raiders girls season with a 3-1 loss on Oct. 13, ending Roseville's season with a 2-14-1 record.
The fifth-seeded Raiders boys upset No. 4 seed St. Louis Park, 2-0, on Oct. 13 before coming up short in a 3-1 loss to No. 1 seed Minneapolis South on Oct. 15 to conclude a 7-6-5 campaign in 2011.

Concordia Soccer
Both Concordia soccer teams lost in the opening round of the Section 4A Tournament.
The Beacons girls lost 1-0 at St. Croix Lutheran on Oct. 15 to wrap a 5-10 season, while the boys were defeated 4-1 by visiting PACT Charter on Oct. 11 to finish off a 6-10-3 autumn.
Concordia Football
The Concordia football team crushed visiting St. Agnes, 40-0, on Oct. 14 to improve to 4-3 on the season.
Christian Koehn ran for two touchdowns and Jake Beasy scampered for one more, with Dan Hartman throwing three scoring passes to Ryan Donahue in the Beacons' resounding victory.
Concordia concludes the regular season at New Life Academy on Wednesday night.
Roseville Volleyball
Three-straight 3-0 wins — versus Cambridge-Isanti, Forest Lake and Park — concluded the Roseville volleyball team's regular season with a 17-10 overall record and a 6-5 mark in the Suburban East Conference.
Concordia Volleyball
The Concordia volleyball team concluded the regular season by splitting its final two pre-playoff matches last week. After topping DeLaSalle, 3-0, on Oct. 11, the Beacons fell 3-0 to Apple Valley on Oct. 13 and will enter the postseason with a 15-14 record.
