State senate hearing this morning on Minnesota Vikings stadium.
There has been an ongoing and big debate regarding how much of a new football stadium should be paid for by the Vikings. The site for the stadium (if it becomes a reality is also up in the air.
The Vikings favor a site in Arden Hills. The Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce, whose territory includes Roseville, favors the Arden Hills site. But th city of Minneapolis has offered three possible site in its community.

Meanwhile, Roseville state Sen. John Marty is part of a bi-partisan group that has proposed essentially selling the Metrodome to the Vikings for a $1 and let the team rebuild there, in a bid to avoid big state subsidies for the project
At one point in the hearing this morning, DFLer Marty asked Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission Chairman Ted Mondale about the example of Fridley-basedΒ Β building its own headquarters. Why can't the Minnesota Vikings do the same with a new stadium?

Mondale responded that it was a bad comparison. The Minnesota Vikings could never make a profit if they paid the total cost of stadium.
