What does MrZerr0 Personally Collect?
Having too many people wrongly assume what I, MrZerr0, Really collect, I thought I would set the record straight.

"What Does MrZerr0 Collect?"
Dr. Rox Remember When?
Article #183 May 2026
By: RLSchwinden aka MrZerr0
So as May is my Birthday Month, I thought I would answer this much asked question. So What does MrZerr0 collect? Because for some strange reason people seem to think I am into comics and video games, completely by passing the fact I opened a Vinyl Record Store in 2009, I have been on several Radio Stations with 6 different Music Shows since 2012, I have played in 9 different bands since 2012; Lead and Backing Vocals, Rhythm Guitar and Bass. I have appeared in 8 Films since 2011, I have been on Local TV CTV-15 several times, as well as NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox TV several times. All of the Music and Film related ... and not a single thing to do with comics or even video games, other than the fact Mr. Zer0's 55113 Roseville does sell "Vintage Video Games" (although my son is becoming a master of MindCraft, which I personally think is a pretty good game for young kids) but has any really ever heard me talk about playing them?
While I have written numerous articles on the music and bands I am into, to sum it up quickly my main jam is the music from 1965 to 1969 almost anything released in this time period, but not exclusive to this time period. Some of my Top Favorite Bands: Monkees, Beatles, KISS, Black Sabbath, Tommy Bolin and the recordings he did. While I own a vinyl record store my preference is still CDs, I think they sound better, you just have to mix the right tones on your amplifier and they hold more songs, with no hiss or pops.

I did write an article on "My Favorite Toys: #A-126 Aug 2021" but perhaps I didn't clarify exactly what Toys I still collect. I would have to say 1st and foremost "The Monkees" toys from 1966 to 1970, although NOT Paper, a few poster maybe but mainly the toys manufactured in the 60s, and there were literally hundreds made, a guy I knew back in the day, Marty Eck published a book on The Monkees toys in Jan 1998. Marty once told me at a Monkees concert in Aug 1997 in Merrillville, IN. that he owed (and perhaps recorded) the tape of the 26 April 1969 Monkees concert at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, ILL. sadly Marty passed away in 2021 and his collection was sold off to different collectors- sellers, and no one seems to know the whereabouts of this 1969 Concert tape a historical document for certain as there is currently only 1 known recording of "The Monkees 1969 Tour" and it is of very poor quality.
I suppose the next item on the list would be Beatles toys from 1964 to 1970, although once again, no paper, however I do have a Beatles magazine that was a prop from the film "Crash Landing: The Rescue of Flight 232" a TV Movie from 1992 about the crash landing in Sioux City, Iowa, rescued by props crew member Pat C. for my 30th Bday present in 1993, so that is super cool. More like the dolls, the model kits, buttons etc. The main era I collect would be 1968-69 "Yellow Submarine".

Then would come KISS toys, mostly figures and posters, the posters were much cooler in the 70s, however the figures were much better in the late 90s and early 2000s. I don't really care for the cartoonish style figures, though.
Another thing I collect is 1960s- 70s "Planet Of The Apes" this is the exception as I do like books, magazines and cards from this area. However I do prefer the dolls, figures and toys from this category. My friend Rylan once asked me "Why do you like Planet Of The Apes so much?" I answered "I like the idea of time travel and getting away from it all. also in some ways Planet Of The Apes lead to my love of the band "KISS" because I enjoyed the mystery of what the actors looked like that portrayed the Apes, I scoured the TV Guide for photos of the actors in the films that appeared in other films or TV without the prosthetics on, just like a few years later I wondered what KISS looked like with no makeup"
Not lastly would be "Star Trek: The Original Series" from 1966-1969, (NO not Star Wars). This tv show really had an impact on me as a kid, I so wanted to be an astronaut, (not realizing poor eyesight and asthma would prevent me from the Airforce much less space travel). I very much prefer the 60s show, brighter colors and more action. Again not too much paper, although I do like the trading cards.
And Peter Max being my favorite artist I do collect Psychedelic Posters and art from the 1960s to current.
On to Movies, Films and TV. I love movies, I probably watch a movie a night, and I use VHS, DVD as well as Blu Ray, I must admit my preference is VHS, I like the soft palate of the medium, in fact I am in a documentary on VHS "Adjust Your Tracking" from 2013. My favorite genre would be Religious- Horror, as you don't have to wonder who the bad guy is, as Satan is usually the bad guy. I do like Sci- Fi, (does "The Notebook" qualify as Sci-Fi?) The "Alien" series and "Predator" series and Action and WWII films as well,
Some of my very favorite TV Shows would be:
Outer Limits (1963), Twilight Zone (1959), Circle Of Fear (1972), Night Gallery (1973), UFO (1970), Kolchak: Night Stalker (1974), N.Y.P.D. Blue (1993), Homicide; Life On The Streets (1993), Walking Dead (2010), X-Files (1993) Voyagers (1982), Sliders (1995), Partridge Family (1970), Game Of Thrones (2011), Band Of Brothers (2001).
And now for what I am really into collecting:
VOX Guitars and memorabilia of the VOX company from the 60s. As well as 60s Gibson guitars. I do have many from both of these. A new passion of mine actually started with my admiration of Sioux City Guitarist Tommy Bolin, I bought 2 Squires a Tele and a Strat and I put together a "TB Tele-Strat" a Strat body with a Tele neck I had his brother Johnnie (1954 - 2024) sign it and we named it "Alexis" then with the help of my friend Scott Weisher Guitars (1964 - 2026) to take lesser expensive guitars and revamp them into famous guitars. The very 1st one I did with Scott's assistance, was to take a 1975 Gibson Deluxe and turn it into a copy of Paul Stanley of KISS' 1975 "Midnight Special". Next I picked up a kit guitar and had B. Follett Guitars in Seattle make me a Tommy Bolin "Whitey" Tele- Strat.
For a time, when I was guestin with THEE MOD GARAGE, I had a passion for Hollowbody guitars, I picked up a Trini Lopez knock off and painted it my own usual style of psychedelic art and turned it over to Bill H. at Benedict Guitars MPLS to clear coat it. The next one I did was take a Made In Japan Fender Strat and my friend Felicia (Flea Designs and Verve Reality) Kelley, and Typhoon Guitars (St. Paul) and make my variation of George Harrison's "Rocky". However my friend Kurt Jess of Jess Artworks, suggested he let me try his hand at painting a "Rocky" so again I picked up an off brand "Strat" and turned it over to him and he delivered it back spot on. Then Kurt showed me some other work he had done, and I had him paint an off brand Les Paul, (created by Typhoon) and Kurt created a beautiful Psychedelic work of art on it. Currently Jess is recreating Eric Clapton's: CREAM "The Fool" SG Guitar. The next one is in the works Edward Van Halen's "Black Striped White Frankenstein"
Well there you have it folks what MrZerr0 is really collecting, vs, what some think I collect. Until the next installment ...happy birthday to me; mZ
