Woodbury Defeats Roseville, Wins Section 4AAAA Final

Overtime 68-66 win over Roseville propels Royals to state tourney.

Before a capacity crowd at host Thursday night, the boys basketball team beat Roseville 68-66 in overtime to gain the Section 4AAAA Championship and a trip to the state high school tournament.

Down by as many as 12 points in the second half, Woodbury roared back and finished regulation play tied 61-61.

Led by junior Renard Suggs, 26 points, and his senior brother Rickey, who had 12, the Royals held on to win one of the most exciting games in recent area high school hoops history.

Woodbury is now 22-5 on the season. State competition begins Wednesday at Williams Arena.
