1 Killed After Sheriff's Squad Strikes SUV Near State Capitol: Reports
Several others, including a 4-year-old, were injured in the crash, according to police and media reports.
ST. PAUL, MN — One person was killed and several were injured after a Ramsey County sheriff’s squad vehicle struck an SUV overnight just blocks from the Minnesota State Capitol, according to police and media reports.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Robert Street North and 12th Street East, according to the Minnesota State Patrol, when a deputy was responding to a call for a stolen car, The Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
The squad was traveling west on 12th Street East with lights and sirens on when it collided with a Toyota RAV4 going north on Robert Street, according to the state patrol.

The driver of the RAV4, a 51-year-old St. Paul man, was killed, the Tribune reported, while his passengers — a 44-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy, both also from St. Paul — were injured. The 35-year-old deputy was hurt as well, but a 19-year-old man in the squad was not seriously injured, according to the newspaper.
