12-Year-Old Killed In Shooting; 14-Year-Old Arrested: St. Paul Police

The teen boy was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the fatal shooting, police said.

ST. PAUL, MN — A 14-year-old was arrested Saturday on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the death of a 12-year-old the same day in St. Paul, police said.

The teen boy was placed at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center following the fatal shooting in the 200 block of Stinson Street in St. Paul’s North End, according to police.

The victim’s mother identified her son as Markee Jones to the Star Tribune and described him as a happy child who loved basketball and spending time outside with friends. The family also told the newspaper that the shooting, which happened around 5 a.m., was an accident and that the adult who was at the house with the boys was asleep when the incident occurred.
