ST. PAUL, MN — Three people have been federally charged after prosecutors say they assaulted a Turning Point USA contributor while she was covering an anti-ICE protest outside a federal building in St. Paul.
Christopher Josih Ostroushko, Paige Marie Ostroushko and Deyanna Marie Ostroushko were named in a federal grand jury indictment unsealed Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota.
Prosecutors said the alleged victim was Savanah Hernandez, a Turning Point USA contributor who was reporting on an April 11 anti-ICE protest on federal property in St. Paul.
Christopher Ostroushko and Paige Ostroushko are also charged with willfully and forcefully injuring and intimidating Hernandez, according to the indictment.
"Hernandez was allegedly surrounded, physically assaulted, and shoved to the ground — simply because she was identified by the defendants as a conservative journalist," Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.
FBI Director Kash Patel said Wednesday that the FBI "immediately engaged and led the investigation" after video of the alleged assault surfaced.
"Let this be a message to others who may try something similar — this FBI will find you," Patel wrote on X.
Hernandez thanked Patel in a post on X, saying she appreciated the FBI "handling this so quickly and effectively."
"Both myself and many of my friends have been attacked and usually there is ZERO response from the state or federal government so this is extremely appreciated," Hernandez wrote.
U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen called political violence "a national scourge" and said federal law enforcement "will not tolerate it."
FBI, Homeland Security Investigations and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office investigated the case.
