Minnesota Voters To Decide Governor, U.S. Senate Races In 2026: Full Elections Calendar

Several big races will be on the ballot, and Minnesota voters already have key dates to circle.

ST. PAUL, MN — Minnesota voters will decide races for governor, U.S. Senate, Congress, and several statewide offices in 2026.

The primary election is scheduled for Aug. 11, while Election Day is set for Nov. 3, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office.

Early voting for the primary begins June 26 and runs through Aug. 10. Minnesotans who want to register in advance for the primary have until July 21 to do so.

For the general election, early voting begins Sept. 18 and runs through Nov. 2. The advance registration deadline for Election Day is Oct. 13.

All Minnesota voters will have the following races on their general election ballots:

U.S. senator

U.S. representative

Governor and lieutenant governor

Secretary of state

State auditor

Attorney general

State senator

State representative

Judicial seats

Depending on where they live, voters may also see races for county officials, city officers, school board members and township officers. Some voters may also see local ballot questions or special elections.

Special elections are used to fill vacant offices or decide ballot questions. They can be scheduled at various times during the year and may be held alongside a regularly scheduled election.
