Where Simon stands
Simon served in the Minnesota House, where he chaired the Elections Committee and wrote the law allowing all eligible voters to vote from home, before becoming secretary of state in 2015. He has said he will keep protecting voters' private information from federal requests and defend same-day voter registration and voting from home.
Where Jude stands
Jude, an attorney and small business owner, has served as a legislator and district court judge. He supports requiring a photo ID to vote, would use the federal SAVE database to check voter rolls, would launch a task force to detect fraudulent business registrations and wants a statewide vote on restoring the 1983 Minnesota flag.
The winner will begin a four-year term in January. All results are unofficial until they are certified by the State Canvassing Board.
