#BackSeatTweets: MN State Patrol Hosts Virtual Ride-Along
If you were following the Minnesota State Patrol on Twitter Thursday night, you got to "ride-along" with Trooper Daniil Poptelecan.
If you were following the Minnesota State Patrol on Twitter Thursday night, you got to "ride-along" with Trooper Daniil Poptelecan during the agency's new #BackSeatTweets feature. The aim of the virtual ride-along is to help Minnesotans get a better understanding of what goes into a state trooper’s shift.
What did we learn?
• Despite the fact that it was 2 degrees below zero Thursday night, Poptelecan pulled over drivers when he thought it necessary. Troopers stop drivers no matter the weather conditions.
• Troopers are at risk the second they step out of the squads. Many drivers still don’t understand that it’s the law to move over or slow down when they see flashing lights.
• Troopers travel hundreds of miles during a single shift. Poptelecan estimated he drives anywhere between 200 and 250 miles during his 10-hours on duty.
