All Clear Given After Bomb Threat Closes University Of St. Thomas

School officials say the University of St. Thomas campus has been closed for business Wednesday and all classes are canceled for the day.

SAINT PAUL, MN — The University of Saint Thomas has given the all clear after a bomb threat shutdown campus Wednesday. Officials say just after 9:30 a.m., the campus switchboard received a call from someone who said a bomb was on campus.

The Saint Paul and Minneapolis police, as well as the FBI, were notified.

Just after 10 a.m., the university said it received a second call, naming McNeely Hall as the location. The school evacuated McNeely Hall and the surrounding buildings, including the Child Development Center.

Authorities began looking for suspicious objects.

According to the university, the caller then changed the location of the threat. The Saint Paul campus was subsequently closed for business, and all classes were canceled Wednesday.

"From language used by the caller it was apparent our public alerts were being monitored, so we began using alternate methods of communication," the university said in a statement.

"Students in residence halls were notified that no threats directed at residence halls had been received and were advised to follow their personal safety plans."

No suspicious objects were found, according to officials. The Saint Paul campus will reopen as normal Wednesday.
