Days Of Snow, Freezing Temps Forecast For Twin Cities After Glimpse Of Spring

Mild and warm weather will be replaced by cold and snow this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Twin Cities residents who’ve been enjoying the mild weather in recent days would do well to savor Monday’s 55-degree high, as a week of snow and freezing temperatures looms in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

“We'll have one more springlike day but a more active wintry pattern develops tonight and remains through much of the week,” according to a post Monday from the NWS Twin Cities X account. “Highs drop to the 40s with lows in the 20s starting Tuesday, with at least a chance of rain/snow showers for multiple periods starting tonight.”

The area will see rain and snow overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, with a low around 30 degrees forecast for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, according to the weather service.

Snowfall may linger into Wednesday and the low Wednesday night is predicted to dip down around 26 degrees, the weather service forecasted. Rain mixing with snow is expected overnight Thursday into Friday, with snow possibly returning overnight Friday into Saturday, according to the weather service.

A chance of snow during the day Saturday will give way to a higher likelihood of the white stuff, which could be heavy at times, overnight into Sunday, when it may continue, the weather service reported. Also forecast for Sunday are wind gusts of up to 30 mph.
