DJ Mary Lucia Is Leaving 89.3 The Current After 17 Years
Mary Lucia was one of the original DJs who started when Minnesota Public Radio launched The Current in 2005.
ST. PAUL, MN β Afternoon DJ Mary Lucia has announced plans to leave 89.3 The Current, the Twin Cities music station that operates under Minnesota Public Radio, after 17 years.
Lucia was one of the original DJs who started when the station launched in 2005. Her final on-air shift for The Current will be on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
"She has long been more than a DJ to music fans," says program director Jim McGuinn. "Sheβs been a friend, playing her favorite records and opening her heart to our listeners, who have responded with deep appreciation."

Lucia is the latest in a series of recent DJ departures from the station.
In 2019, The Current announced that Brian Oake was "no longer a host." Mark Wheat, who also started with the station in 2005, retired in 2020.
