Field Trips, Community Activities Offer In-Person Connections

Minnesota Connections Academy offers a variety of opportunities for students, their family members and staff to meet face-to-face!

Field trips, community activities and other social events provide students enrolled at Minnesota Connections Academy, their family members, and staff a great opportunity to meet face-to-face, outside of their regular course work.

One recent field trip was the Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors, Minn. Split Rock is one of the most photographed and visited spots in the state. The group had guided tours of the lighthouse grounds, complete with staff dressed in time period costume, representing when the lighthouse was active.

Students also visited Mystery Cave in Spring Valley, Minn. Discovered in 1937, Mystery Cave is the longest cave in Minnesota. Spanning over 13 miles underground, Mystery Cave is a network of passages that was dissolved by moving water. A park naturalist lead students, their family members and staff through various portions of the cave and explained its history, features, and how it was formed. Connections Academy is a free online public school that K-12 students across the state attend from home.
