Both directions will shut down from Friday night so crews can set beams for the new Kellogg Blvd./3rd Street bridge.

ST. PAUL, MN β€” Interstate 94 east of downtown St. Paul will fully close in both directions this weekend as the city moves forward with long-delayed construction work on the Kellogg Blvd./3rd Street bridge.

With more favorable winter weather in the forecast, the city of St. Paul confirmed it will shut down I-94 from 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, through 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8. The closure had previously been postponed twice due to extreme cold and high winds.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, drivers should expect single-lane closures in both directions. At 10 p.m., westbound I-94 will fully close between Highway 61 and Highway 52, also known as the Lafayette Freeway. Eastbound lanes will then close at 10 p.m. from Highway 52 to Highway 61.
